Goals to achieve our vision
The ATC-G is based on a culture that cares for young people who are taking their early steps in the world of paid employment. To turn the vision into a reality we are committed to a number of goals and strategies:
Delivery of a complete education for young people
- Students will be continuously encouraged to work to the best of their abilities, to realise their potential and to strive for individual excellence
- A culture will be created that enables students to experience success within a safe and healthy environment
- Programs with a balance of academic and vocational experiences will promote the development of students and provide the potential for a career that suits them
- Skill training and mentoring of students will respond to the needs of young people and industry, especially industries in the Geelong region
- Flexible delivery of programs that maximise existing teaching capability and allow a learning environment that creates meaningful and rewarding careers
Establishing and maintaining a vibrant community within the Geelong community
- The distinctive community that is formed by the College will be based on quality relationships, especially among teachers and students
- The College acknowledges the primary role of parents or guardians in the development and guidance of students and will invite their participation in the activities of the College
- The College will work closely with regional stakeholders in education and training and with regional business and industry, to ensure that a new industry-led approach provides education and training in partnership with the local community
- Industry support will be gained as the College develops programs clearly focused on particular industry segments and individual businesses within these segments
- Recognising traditional ownership and heritage, with a commitment to reconciliation, the College welcomes and encourages Indigenous people into its community
Sensitive care for each student
- The College will conduct all aspects of College life in a manner that is sensitive to the needs of each student and to the common good
- The pastoral care structure and practices will ensure that each individual is known and supported within the College community
Responsible stewardship to all stakeholders
- The governance model will ensure substantial industry and community involvement in the strategic decision making and direction of the College
- Respect for the environment will be supported through College practices and teachings
- Resources will be managed and used in the best interests (current and future) of the College community, always conscious of its place within the wider community
- The College will be sensitive to the economic situation of each of its students and families
