How will the ATC-G help my business?
The ATC-G is a private College registered to train Australian School-based Apprentices (ASbA) while they complete Year 11 and 12.

Established specifically to address the skills needs in the Geelong area, the ATC-G is 100% focused on training apprentices to a standard that delivers high quality tradespeople for the future.

All ATC-G students have completed Year 10 and are studying for a nationally recognised Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) qualification in one of Building & Construction, Engineering or Automotive technology as part of their VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning).  * New Industry streams for 2008 are list below.

Starting with a strategic recruitment process that includes personal interviews with candidates, vocational and aptitude testing, copies of school reports and evidence of a demonstrated commitment to work, students of the College are screened for suitability before their application is accepted.

This approach results in high-calibre apprentices who are focused, enthusiastic and motivated. As part-time apprentices, each ASbA student enters into a training agreement with an employer for a maximum of six years. Therefore it is vital for all parties involved that each apprentice is best matched to their employer and given ongoing workplace support.

For the first two years, the ASbA students participate in paid work for a minimum of 12 weeks each year, while combining academic studies and trade training. Once they have completed their Year 12 qualification they have also completed two years of trade skills training. They become full-time second year apprentices with only one year of trade training to complete.

Apprentice wages are based on the specific industry Award and normal apprenticeship WorkCover applies. The ATC-G provides PPE Safety training as part of its program.
