How will the ATC-G help my child?
One of 25 Australian Technical Colleges (ATCs) around the country backed by the Australian Government, the ATC-G gives Year 11 and 12 students the chance to undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASbA). By combining academic, vocational and technical education and training, with paid employment, each ATC-G student:
works towards completing their Year 12 certificate; |
gains practical experience of what they are studying; |
participates in a combination of school, paid work and on- and off-site training; |
has the option to complete prerequisite subjects for further study |
starts an apprenticeship while still at school, and |
establishes an important link to the working world. |
Most students find it easier to study subjects they enjoy and take pleasure in putting what they learn into practice. The ATC-G employers agree that the combined work/study approach will also help with life skills like problem solving, time management and general organisation. Your child will mature as they gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, in a safe, supportive and caring environment.
The ATC-G curriculum is not limited to specific trade skills training. There is a strong commitment to provide students with the opportunity to learn life skills, business knowledge, communication skills and a strong work ethic. In short, the ATC-G offers a complete education.
